The Annunciation to the Shepherds

Liturgical Banner for Advent

ARTIST - SARA MORTON

"The Annunciation to the Shepherds" banner is part of an ongoing series. It combines liturgical colors for both Advent and Epiphany. The other two banners in the series are "The Three Wisemen" and "The Holy Family". Each banner can be featured alone or as a three paneled display; a triptych.

Available as a Giclée Banner Print on Canvas. Also available as a Giclée Print on Archival Matte Paper and Luster Paper.

There are numerous sizes listed below.

These original Giclée Liturgical Banners and Prints are custom made in the United States, by the artist and not mass produced. The finest media and archival pigmented inks are used. The pigmented inks are superior in that they have the greatest resistance to fading and smudging.

Liturgical Banner Concept

These banners implement the limited color palette of Advent and Epiphany:

Royal Blue represents hope, expectation and heaven.
Purple represents repentance and patience.
White represents purity and light.
Gold represents joy and triumph
Brown is a reminder of Christ's sacrifice and his relationship with the earth.

Although they may be considered Christmas themes, I intend for these banners to be enjoyed at any time. It is also proposed that they be appreciated for their intrinsic meaning and narrative. Simplicity was key in the designs. They may be viewed either as a print or as a large banner motif. The banners have the digital capacity to be scaled far larger in size. They were drawn, by hand, on the computer. When magnified, these banners reveal the best of stained glass, mosaics and iconography. The sources for my banners are derived from historical and traditional themes. These traditional motifs are given new life with the most current digital media.

Although I am presenting these banners in print form, they may also be considered for liturgical display purposes. There is obviously a potential for the creation of more banners; in different themes and color palettes. I am open to the idea of commissioned or customized banner designs. If you are interested in having liturgical banners designed, please contact me by phone or e-mail.
